SmokePractice

Turn your matches into practice.

Upload your CS2 demo. SmokePractice reads your utility, finds what it cost you, and builds a session out of the lineups that fix it.

Your demo is read on your own machine

Nothing is uploaded. A competitive demo is 200 to 400 MB and carries nine other people's Steam ids, and none of that has to sit on somebody's server to answer a question about how you threw. The parser is CS2's own demo format compiled to WebAssembly and it runs in the tab: a 400 MB match takes about forty seconds, and the file never leaves the disk it is already on.

If you play on FACEIT you can pick the match out of your own history instead and it fetches the file for you, including the compressed .dem.zst they hand out.

What it finds, it measured

Every finding is a reading of something the demo recorded, not a guess at what your team meant to do. The utility you died still holding, priced at what you paid for it. Flashes that blinded nobody. Flashes that blinded your own team, and for how long. Smokes and fire that came to rest more than 400 units from anything we teach, measured against the 910 lineup landings we know.

A wrong tactical claim costs the trust the true ones need, so where the demo does not say, neither does the page.

And then you practise the ones you missed

The findings that can be practised become a session: up to six lineups, repeated as often as the mistake came up, thrown on the real map and scored where the grenade stops like every other throw here. On Mirage and Dust 2 your match is drawn on the radar first, each throw where it landed and each death where it happened, so you can see the round before you practise the fix.

It is free while it is in beta, one demo a month, and it needs no account to read the file.

Questions

Is my CS2 demo uploaded anywhere?

No. The demo is read in your browser by a WebAssembly parser and never leaves your machine. There is no upload, no queue and no account.

How long does it take to read a demo?

About forty seconds for a 400 MB competitive match, and less for a shorter one. The progress bar is the read itself.

Which demos does it take?

A CS2 .dem, and the compressed .dem.zst, .dem.gz or .dem.bz2 that FACEIT and other platforms hand out. You can also connect FACEIT and pick the match out of your history.

What does it actually tell me?

Utility you died holding and what it cost, flashes that blinded nobody, flashes that blinded your own team, and smokes or molotovs that landed away from any lineup we teach. Each one you can practise opens as a lineup on its map.

What does it cost?

It is free in beta, one demo a month.
